Inside Music Schools – Giving Back to the Music Community
At Inside Music Schools (IMS), our mission goes beyond helping students navigate the complex world of college music admissions. We believe in giving back to the music community and helping talented student musicians access the opportunities they deserve. Through our public-spirited programs and partnerships, we aim to make a meaningful impact on young musicians’ lives—one note (and application!) at a time.
Supporting Student Musicians
We at IMS understand how overwhelming the college music admissions process can be. That’s why we provide guidance and support to a select student (or two) each year who may not have access to our resources on their own. By offering pro bono consulting, mock auditions, essay editing, and school-list planning, we help students put their best foot forward — while also fostering a sense of confidence and preparedness.
Our Community Partnerships
Boston Arts Academy (BAA)
For the past two years, IMS has collaborated with the BAA college counseling team to offer free services to deserving students chosen by the BAA team. Each year, one student receives support with mock auditions, simulated admissions interviews, essay writing and editing, artistic resume development, and personalized consulting with our founder, Steve Lipman, and Senior Consultant, Karen Kerr.
Atlanta Music Project (AMP)
In partnership with AMP’s Director of College and Career Services, IMS developed a series of free webinars for AMP students. These sessions provide guidance on preparing for auditions, navigating the college admissions process, and making informed decisions about music programs.
