Karen Kerr

Senior Consultant 

An accomplished professional with over 28 years of experience in higher education, admissions, and recruitment, Karen has always made her goal finding the best-fit school for student musicians.

Most recently, she served as the Director of Admission and Recruitment at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where she was responsible for recruitment, auditions/interviews, and admissions of all undergraduate and graduate applicants. During her 17 years at Frost, she was instrumental in the significant increase of the academic profile for admitted undergraduate students and the over 100% increase in graduate program applications.

Prior to joining the Frost School, she served on the admissions staff at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. As an admissions counselor at Michigan, Karen reviewed applications at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, she oversaw the summer orientation sessions and worked to guide applicants throughout the application and audition process.

Karen is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a past member of the Independent Consortium on College Admissions in Music (ICCAM) and the National Music Roundtable.

Originally from the Midwest, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from Indiana University Southeast, where her principal instrument was piano. She also earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Miami and a certificate in College Counseling from the University of California San Diego.
