INSIDE MUSIC SCHOOLS HELPS GET YOU THERE

I

nterested in Jazz? Inside Music Schools can help guide you on this journey. What sets Jazz auditions apart from other majors is the improvisation. Each school will have its own set of requirements that outlines their criteria, and prospective students need to be comfortable with the improvisational component.

Schools will handle this process in their own way, and it may include measuring your style, observing how you adapt when thrown something new, or seeing if you can follow directions to the letter. Each student should read the individual schools' requirements for auditions very carefully.

With the guidance of our consultants and their list of best-fit music performance schools in hand, an IMS student has a greatly increased chance of getting into the school that is right for them.

 A few things to consider:

  • Video Interviews are a way to save travel and money. If offered it could be a worthwhile endeavor.
  • Each school may have different requirements, don’t prepare the same audition. Instead, modify your auditions according to what each individual school asks of you.
  • Once accepted, working gigs alongside your program of study is an integral part of networking, and learning a breadth of skills within the industry.

Studying Jazz is as popular as ever. Inside Music Schools’ in-depth admissions programs prepare students to apply confidently to the best programs that fit their needs. With one-on-one support, we determine what drives you. With mock auditions, you prepare to inspire admissions staff and faculty. With interviews from faculty, alumni, and people in the industry, you’ll know where you’re going.
